Once again, Kiku found himself back at his training ground. He'd hit a snag in his training lately. The genin had been going through the motions, but he hadn't been making the big strides he had before. He needed some inspiration. Kiku wondered if any of his books would help. That one about the Two Immortals had been both a help and a hindrance to him. It was full of badass fire jutsu he could try to learn, but it had worried him too. That sort of power was amazing, but what if it drove him mad too? He didn't want to end up causing chaos like that.

It was close to one in the afternoon when he decided to break for lunch. Kiku sat by one of the shattered rocks that he had destroyed in his Rasengan training, enjoying his lunch in peace.

Toda would be walking around the training field, he would play with his headband a moment, his father had given it to him before he left, then he tied it to his belt, this was his first time on the training field as a Genin, he looked around as he saw a smashed boulder, no idea someone was behind it he would grab one of his Kunai and paper's placing a seal on it, and over shot his target, and it hit a tree, and after three seconds, the paper blew up, along with the kunai and the tree, a 5" area of the tree removed would make the tree begin to fall, then Toda would jump up and over the boulder, aiming a fist at part of the tree and when they collided, he then poured a small amount of his chakra into the tree, then the part he hit would explode and Toda would land on the ground on all fours and wood would fall all around him

Kiku let out a yelp. Once again, someone had managed to sneak up on him. He looked up from behind his rock, snooping around. There was another boy there, white-haired and a little taller than Kiku. He seemed to be doing some sort of explosive tag training. He'd caused quite a few blasts, and was now on all fours by a more wooded part of the field. Kiku had been avoiding that area for fear of starting forest fires, but his curiosity was piqued. Besides, he should probably let the guy know where he was. He didn't want to get caught in one of those blasts.

Kiku closed up his bento box and emerged from cover, waving nervously. He didn't seem to remember meeting this guy before, but he was definitely a Sora nin. Probably genin or chuunin by the look of things. "Hey." He called out, trying to get Toda's attention without startling him. "Um, wanna train together?"

Toda turned hearing the kids voice, he had seen him before, but as Toda kept to himself was no surprise the kid looked at him strange, then Toda spoke softly back to the kid "As you see I tend to blow stuff up, Don't want to risk blowing up my comrade and possible cell mate". Toda turned and took a few steps then stopped and turned around and smiled. "But you know what, lets give it a shot" Toda's voice was soft still then his eyes had a sence of determination behind them as he looked at the boy and took a fightning stance.

Kiku nodded nervously. "Well um, I'm a fire type, so I can make a mess too. We could just, like, not hurt each other." He took a stance, sizing up his opponent. The other boy was taller, in better shape, and probably a good bit stronger. On top of that, Kiku wasn't very good at taijutsu. Still, there weren't many other choices in this case. "If we stick to taijutsu it should be fine, right?" Kiku tried to calm his nerves. This was going to be one hell of a fight. He hadn't fought hand to hand much at all before. "I'm Kikuchiyo Uzumaki, by the way. Kiku if you like." He offered a nervous smile.

"Toda, Sōichirō Toda, and yes we should be" Toda would charge towards Kiku with his full speed and would quickly aim a backwords fist, using momentum to build up strength, Toda had only known what his parents taught him, so he would try to keep his chakra towards himself, and with his chakra control that wouldn't be to hard, so he was using his destructive fist style with no chakra

"Nice to meet y-" Kiku was cut off as the other genin charged. He realized it had probably been a bad idea to leave his glasses on, they could get broken. He jumped back from the swing, knowing he wasn't strong enough to block it head-on. Kiku kept a safe distance while he pulled off his glasses and put them in their protective case, pocketing them. It was a bit blurry like this, but not enough to really interfere. "You're fast!" Kiku went on the offensive now, jumping and throwing a kick. He wasn't especially fast and he definitely wasn't strong, but he hoped he could put up a decent fight for training. Good enough that this guy wouldn't completely kick his ass, at least.

Toda raised his arms and caught the kick on the top of his arms, then he threw his arms up hard to toss the kid back as he would then step forward with a series of punches that his father had taught him to do, but again he kept his chakra held back. Toda took a moment during their spar to speak" you have good style, but need to train a little more"

Kiku rolled as he landed. It hurt, but he could cope. The punches were harder to keep up with. He barely managed to get his footing in time to counter them. The first few he dodged and deflected, but the last caught him on the shoulder. It spun him around, hurting a lot more than he'd expected. Kiku stumbled back into a stance, wincing a bit. This was going to be tough. "Thanks. I'm usually more a ninjutsu type." He closed back in, throwing a few punches. His left punches were weaker, slowed down by the hit he'd taken in that shoulder. It was going to get tougher from here on out.

Toda would block till a left punch was thrown and would grab his wrist, then would step behind Kiku, twisting the wrist up behind Kiku's back, Toda would then push him away and speak softly "Alright Kiku show me a good Ninjutsu" Toda would pull out a Kunai and a piece of paper, using his Anti-chakra seal on the paper

Kiku winced as his arm was twisted. He really wasn't up to close combat like this. The guy he was fighting was no master, but Kiku was bad enough at taijutsu that he didn't have to be. He still greatly outclassed the redhead. Kikuchiyo regained his footing, taking another stance. "You're really good at this." The suggestion of using his ninjutsu was a bit more alarming. This was exactly what he was worried about. "Um, you mean on you?" He paled, shaking his head. "I'm a fire type, it's dangerous. I could hurt you. Maybe I could just shoot some at the cliff?" He forced a smile, hoping Toda changed his mind.

Toda shook his head and spun the kunai around a finger "Fire one at me, and we will Seal the deal" Toda chuckled as his main phrase he would say when he was almost done, he then braced himself and had the kunai ready to throw

Kiku backed away, shaking his head. "This is dangerous. Too dangerous. I mean I could do some little stuff, but the big stuff? No way." He tried to think of what he could do. There were a few that might be safeish, but fire was one of the more destructive elements. Even a light hit could cause burns. It was ironic, he was one of the gentler ninjas in the village and he had one of the most brutal specialties. "I could do like, a C-rank maybe? That's as high as I'll go except for defense." He was a bit worried about how careless this other genin was about danger. It could cause them some trouble.

Toda laughed "Whatever you think is best, lets just get on with it Kiku, don't worry about me" Toda then smirked and tensed as he readied, the wind blew his hair slightly as the tension between the two boys grew, Toda seeing that nothing was happening would reach for a normal Kunai and throw it at the boy

Kiku nodded, taking a stance. He stood straight up with his eyes closed. One hand formed a half ram sign while the other was put parallel with the ground. His senses extended, giving him a feel for the area around him. To his alarm, he sensed that Toda was throwing the Kunai.

There was a clang and the kunai was sent spinning away. An ethereal gold statue had formed behind Kiku, and one of its thousand arms swatted the knife away like it was nothing. Kiku opened his eyes, more calm now. With this, he could protect himself, but there was less risk of harming his sparring partner. "Raigō: Senjusatsu." A gold fist shot out, slamming into the ground next to Toda. "How's this? It's A-rank, but I can stop it from hurting you."

Toda laughed " I was expecting something I could blow up a little more easily" Toda would throw his Kunai he had prepaired earlier and would then jump on top of the hand that was on the ground next to him "Gimme a challenge Kiku"

As Toda jumped onto the hand, it became ethereal again. He fell through it, landing on his feet as Kiku prepared for the fight. Another hand came up to block the kunai. The explosion caught him off-guard, but a dozen more hands moved between him and the blast, shielding him from it. "The Kannon only has substance when I will it to. It won't be that easy." Kiku was a little excited now. He could see why people got carried away with this secret power stuff, it was kinda fun. He wondered what sort of tricks Toda would pull out in response to it. "Okay, here goes." He attacked with ten of the hands. he kept the hits light, enough to push but not enough to cause injury. This was slowing them down a bit, too. Toda might have been able to dodge them. "Is this okay?"

Listening and examining, toda got his idea, toda would begin dodging the hands, once close enough toda would place his hands on the ground, placing a seal on the ground ,then would push himself up off the ground, dodging the final hand, then while in the air he would release the seal, making an explosion he would hope that distracted Kiku long enough for him to get closer

The attack worked up to a point. The explosion drew Kiku's attention, forcing him to bring the ten hands he'd devoted to offense up to shield himself. Unfortunately for Toda, the other 990 were still unoccupied, and Toda was in the air. One of the things this technique was infamous for was juggling opponents. An airborne fighter couldn't dodge as easily as one on the ground, and even the more dextrous ones could only avoid so many attacks. Toda got withing about six feet of Kiku before the attacks came. A flurry of golden hands as large as Toda's chest shoved at him, aiming to send him flying back. Kiku was still slowing them down and making sure not to hit too hard, but with a hundred huge hands working together there wasn't much that could be done to avoid them.

Toda would see the hand flying at him and shouted "Oh shit" he would then make a hand sign really fast for the Substitution, the tree he hand blow bits out of was now getting juggled around and toda was panting. He stood up and held up his hands "Alright thats enough"

Kiku breathed a sigh of relief, breaking the stance. As quickly as it had appeared, the golden statue was gone. He was glad that Toda had pulled a substitution, even when holding back that jutsu could be dangerous. He was a little winded himself. Though he'd practiced with it a lot, that jutsu still took quite a bit of chakra. After taking a moment to catch his breath, Kiku walked over to Toda and offered a handshake. "You're really good!" he said with a smile. "That jutsu's hard to avoid, especially in the air like that. Sorry I couldn't show you more, I don't like using ninjutsu in a spar." The genin gestured to the scorch marks and craters on the field around them. "It can be pretty nasty stuff."
